There are a number of therapeutic interventions music therapists employ to meet varying needs and goals. For example:

  • Singing

  • Listening to music

  • Instrument Jamming

  • Dancing/Gross Motor Movement

  • Fine Motor Movement

  • Music facilitated bonding/attachment

  • Jamming on instruments

  • Therapeutic Instrument Lessons

  • Improvisation (making music together spontaneously)

  • Writing Songs/Lyric Substitution

  • Relaxation/Guided Imagery

  • Music assisted counselling

This is a small example of the number of techniques we can apply to meet varying goals and needs.

One of the most important things in music therapy, is making sure you enjoy yourself/the client enjoys themselves. This encourages individuals to meet their health and wellness goals more promptly.
